ALLEGED STARVATION DEATHS IN ORISSA

FOOD MINISTRY SENDS TEAMS FOR ON THE SPOT STUDY


The Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Shri Sharad Yadav has sent a team of senior officers to immediately visit Keonjhar and Raigada districts of Orissa to make an on-the-spot study and submit a report to him within three days about the alleged starvation deaths as reported in certain section of the press. The officers are already on their way to Orissa. Mr. B.B. Patnaik, Commercial Officer, Central Warehousing Corporation has been deputed for Raigada and Mr. K.M. Vaghela, Dy. Director, Ministry of Food will be going to Keonjhar. Senior officers from Food Corporation of India, Bhubaneshwar will be accompanying the team.
