NEW POWER SECRETARY


The Secretary Power, Shri R.V.Shahi who assumed charge of his post here on April 13th was the former Chairman and Managing Director(CMD) of the Bombay Suburban Electric Supply (BSES) before joining the Government of India on his current assignment. Shri Shahi had been the CMD of BSES since October 1994.

The new Secretary Power has rich experience in industry including the power sector. He has held key positions such as Chairman of the following group companies:- BSES Telecom Limited, BSES -Andhra Power Limited, BSES Infrastructure Finance Limited, BSES Kerala Power Private Limited.

Shri Shahi had worked with the Steel Authority of India Limited for over 10 years and also held important positions in the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for whom he worked for over 16 years. During 1991-94, he was Director (Operations) on the NTPC Board in-charge of operations, Research & Development and Commercial.

Shri Shahi has also been a member in several important committees including the Committee of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board for reforms and restructuring of the Maharashtra power sector. He has also held the position of Chairman of Council of Power Utilities.
