35th MEETING OF INDO-BANGLADESH JOINT
RIVERS COMMISSION IN DELHI
The 35th
meeting of Indo-Bangladesh Joint Rivers Commission (JRC) will
be held here on 29th and 30th September,
2003. The Bangladesh delegation led by Shri Hafiz Uddin Ahmad,
BB, Minister of Water Resources is reaching here on 28th
September, 2003. The Indian delegation will be led by Shri Arjun
Charan Sethi, Union Minister for Water Resources. The Bangladesh
delegation inter-alia include their Secretary of the Ministry
of Water Resources; High Commissioner of Bangladesh in India;
Director General, Bangladesh Water Development Board and other
Senior officials from the Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry
of Foreign Affairs. The Indian delegation will include the Secretary
and the Additional Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources; Chairman,
Central Water Commission and other senior officials from the Ministry
of Water Resources and Ministry of External Affairs as well as
the State Governments of West Bengal, Assam and Tripura.
The Agenda to be
discussed during the meeting will be adopted in the First Session
of the meeting of the JRC on 29th September, 2003.
On his return journey, the Minister of Water Resources of Bangladesh
is scheduled to call on the Chief Minister of West Bengal on 3rd
October, 2003. Earlier on 1st and 2nd October,
2003, he accompanied by other officials from Government of India
and Government of Bangladesh will visit Farakka barrage site and
Joint observation sites on Ganga.
