SHRI SHANMUGAM VISITS FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRY UNITS

Shri N.T. Shanmugam, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries visited food processing units, M/s. Harnarain Gokul Chand manufacturing Pickles/Perserves and M/s G.D. Foods Pvt. Ltd. manufacturing `Tops’ brand jams and sauces at Lawrence Road, Industrial Area in Delhi yesterday. This visit by the Minister accompanied by the senior officials of the ministry was to make an on the spot assessment of maintenance of sanitary and hygienic condition in the processing premises and study the manufacturing practices adopted by the processing industries. The Minister will be visiting units engaged in processing of fruits and vegetables in all regions of the country with a view to ensuring good manufacturing practices and improving the quality of the products as per the quality standards laid down under Fruit Products Order (FPO) 1955 so as to protect the interest of the consumers.
