SHRI VIKRAM VERMA CONGRATULATES SWIMMER
SHIKHA TANDON
The Union Minister
of Youth Affairs & Sports, Shri Vikram Verma has sent congratulations
to Shikha Tandon for being the 1st Indian girl to go
under 27 seconds in 50m freestyle swimming. In the message sent
to her, he said,
" It gladdens
my heart to congratulate you on winning a `Gold Medal’ and becoming
the first Indian female swimmer to perform under 27 seconds in
the 50m freestyle at the 57th Senior National Aquatic
Championship.
I wish you all success
in your future endeavors and hope that you will continue to achieve
many more laurels for the country."
Shikha Tondon has
rewritten the National record by clocking 26.61 seconds in the
50 m thus lowering her own best Indian performance of 27.04 seconds
done earlier at Macau in August.
