COMPUTERIZED PASSENGER RESERVATION SYSTEM


The Railways have installed 984 computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) by the end of 2002-2003 and networked them.

During the current financial year 2003-2004, PRS is being installed at 209 locations all over the country.

With the completion of these PRSs, the total number of PRS will go up to 1191 by the end of the current financial year.

At present, 98 per cent of total reservations of Indian Railways is on PRS.

Now passengers can book tickets from anywhere by any train for any destination hassle-free, which is a milestone in customer satisfaction.

The computerized PRS was first introduced in New Delhi in 1985-86, which was since extended to cover the four metros and then all over the country.
