During the ongoing capital repairs of blast furnace number 2, it was seen that the receiving hopper of the furnace was damaged and was in a bad shape. It was affecting the charging into the furnace. The plant took on the challenge of making the receiving -hopper in-house and delivered it in time. The fabrication of this job was very complicated as it required dexterous and sophisticated plate making, gas cutting, edge preparing and a gamut o other finer activities.

The mechanical personnel of Gas Cleaning Plant of blast furnace have proved their mettle in rectifying the 84-inch westling-valve plate drive gearbox of blast furnace number 4. The shaft was made in-house and successfully tested. After making other minor adjustments, the gearbox was made perfect for smooth functioning of the westling valve.
