NALCO CROSSES PRODUCTION AND SALES
TARGET
National
Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) has crossed the target in production
and sales during April-August 2003-04. It has produced 1,729,490
tonnes of Bauxite during the period against a target of 1,625,000
tonnes. It produced 1,23,118 tonnes of Aluminium Cast Metal against
a target of 118,000 tonnes.
During the period
total metal sales has been 1,19,648 tonnes against a target of
1,18,200 tonnes. It has produced 2,088 million units of electricity
from its captive power plant crossing the target of 2,070 million
units and provided 212.77 million units to GRIDCO.
The company posted
a net profit of Rs. 118.33 crore during the first quarter of this
fiscal with an increase of 19.37 per cent over Rs. 99.13 crore,
achieved in the corresponding quarter last year. The sales turnover
has also recorded an increase of 4.74 per cent from Rs. 634.77
crore to Rs. 664.88 crore. Alumina production during the quarter
increased to 3,69,100 tonnes from 3,58,600 tonnes. Aluminium production
during these 3 months was 3,69,100 tonnes. During this period,
the aluminium sale, including exports also went up by 17.89 per
cent from 54,190 tonnes to 63,884 tonnes.
