NORTH EASTERN STATES ALLOCATED
RS. 26.50 CRORE FOR SLUM DWELLERS
North Eastern States
have been allocated an amount of Rs. 26.50 Crore under Valmiki
Ambedkar Awas Yojana (VAMBAY) during the year 2003-04.
Against this
an amount of Rs. 50.17 Lakh was released till June, 2003. State
wise details of funds allocated and funds released are given below:

The Scheme was
launched all over the country in December, 2001 exclusively for
the benefit of slum dwellers. Government of India provides a subsidy
of 50 percent and the balance 50 percent is arranged by the state
Government concerned. Slum dwellers are provided with dwelling
units and community toilets under VAMBAY.
