PRIME MINISTER’S SHRAM AWARDS FOR
THREE RAILWAY EMPLOYEES
Three Railway employees
have bagged the Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for the year 2003,
out of 17 workmen and women having been selected among Departmental
and public sector undertakings of the Central and State Governments
in recognition of their distinguished performances, innovative
abilities, outstanding contribution to productivity and exhibition
of exceptional courage and presence of mind. The maximum number
of awardees can be up to 35.
The three Railway
employees are Shri T.B. Sheik Bagavandeen, Ms. Harjeet Kaur and
Shri A. Govindrajan.
Shri T.B. Sheik
Bagavandeen is at Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai. He has
modified successfully and improved six expensive imported sophisticated
machines saving fresh investments and precious foreign exchange.
The Shram Award carries a cash award of 60,000 and a ‘sanad’.
Ms. Harjeet Kaur,
who works at electronic lab of Diesel Multiple Workshop, Patiala,
trouble shoots and repairs electronic components of machines including
programmable logic comntrollers and special purpose electronics
mounted with the computers on the machines. Her diligent efforts
have saved foreign exchange worth Rs. 35 lakhs annually. She receives
Shram Devi Award, which carries a cash award of Rs. 40,000 and
a ‘sanad’.
Shri A. Govindrajan
from Aarkonam Track machines unit has also been awarded the Shram
Shri Award for 2003 for outstanding performance in his area of
work. He gets a cash award of Rs. 40,000 and a ‘sanad’.
