ALUMINIUM PRODUCTION IN APRIL-SEPTEMBER
2003
The production of
aluminium metal in the country during April-September, 2003 has
been 4 lakh tonnes against 3.289 lakh tonnes during the same period
last year. The target was to produce 4,09,092 tonnes during the
period.
During the period
public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) has produced
1,48,102 tonnes against a target of 1,41,200 tonnes and Bharat
Aluminium Company Ltd. (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government
equity produced 48,929 tonnes against the target of 49,700 tonnes.
The private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company Ltd. (Hindalco)
contributed 1,55,142 tonnes, Indian Aluminium Company (INDAL)
32,942 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Ltd. (MALCO) 15,875
tonnes.
During the month
of September the total production was 65,877 tonnes against a
target of 68,217 tonnes. NALCO exported 71,120 tonnes of alumina
and 12,038 tonnes of aluminium during the month. The installed
capacity of annual aluminium production in the country is 8,40,000
tonnes.
