KONKAN RAILWAY SIGNS MoU WITH BSNL TO STEP UP COMMUNICATION

Konkan Railway Corporation and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will ensure coverage of Cell One mobile phones of BSNL all along the Konkan Railway route. The new initiative on the part of the railways will provide better connectivity and communication to the passengers travelling on the Konkan route.

As per the MoU, which was signed in Mumbai today, BSNL will be spending Rs 8-10 crores on the project to be completed within six months. Konkan Railway has projected an estimated 1000 cell connections to BSNL to improve train operations, safety and maintenance. Additional twenty towers will be erected on railway stations and 88 tunnels of the Konkan route covered with special infrastructure to facilitate effective communication network.
