PROPOSALS CLEARED FOR ORISSA AND GUJARAT UNDER PMGSY


Ministry of Rural Development has approved project proposals of Orissa and Gujarat under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY).

Ministry has cleared proposals of Orissa worth Rs.183.56 crore under PMGSY. Over 658 habitations are likely to be benefited and 997.99 kms. of road work will be constructed. The average cost per kilometre is Rs. 18.39 lakh. The total number of roadworks which is going to be undertaken is 347. The total number of MPs’ proposals included is 148.

For Gujarat, project proposals under PMGSY worth to the tune of Rs. 54.40 crore has been approved. The total number of habitations to be benefited is 218 and over 429.45 kms. of roads will be constructed upon completion of 203 projects of roadwork. Out of these 218 habitations, 176 habitations are covered under new connectivity and 42 habitations are covered under upgradation of roads. The average cost per kilometre for providing new connectivity is Rs.13.29 lakh and for upgradation the average cost per kilometre is Rs.10.70 lakh. The number of MPs’ proposals included in the current year is 78.

PMGSY is a 100% Centrally Sponsored Scheme which primarily aims to provide single all weather road connectivity to over 1.60 lakh eligible Unconnected Habitations at an estimated investment of about Rs.60,000 crore.
