RAVI SHANKAR PRASAD RELEASES BOOK ON JP

The Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that Indian democracy had been baptized during the emergency and no politician will ever dare to proclaim emergency. He said, India will always remain a democratic country and there is no possibility of any military coup also.

Shri Prasad was releasing a book titled "India’s Second Freedom – An Untold Saga" on the life of Lok Nayak Jaya Prakash Narayan written by M. G. Devasahayam here today. Shri Prasad who was a close follower of JP during those turbulent years said that JP was a real ‘Rishi’ who declined the offer of Prime Ministership three times and the opportunity to become the President of India. He said, JP was dismayed by the role of intellectuals who could not muster courage to oppose the draconian measure of strangulating democracy through emergency.

Another aspect of Lok Nayak’s personality, which Shri Prasad underlined was his great command over languages both English and Hindi. The book, he said would go a long way to remind the younger generations to inspire them and defend the institution of democracy.
