The Ministry of Rural
Development is organizing two-days National Conference of Project

the Chief Executive Officers of Zilla Parishads (in the States
where Zilla Parishads are implementing the Programmes of Rural

by the Deputy Prime Minister, Shri L.K. Advani. Shri K.C. Pant,
Dy. Chairman, Planning Commission and Shri Kashiram Rana, Minister

District Rural Development
Agencies/Zilla Parishads are directly responsible for coordinating
the implementation of the Rural Development Programmes at the
field level. The Project Director and Chief Executive Officers
of DRDAs/Zilla Parishads being the head are the pivot around whom
implementation of Rural Development Programmes in the district
revolves. About 600 participants from different States / Union
Territories would attend the Conference which would provide a
platform for close interaction and coordination between the planners,
policy makers on the one hand and grass root level implementors
on the other. The discussions with the field level functionaries
during the Conference would considerably help in formulating strategies
and in taking corrective steps to strengthen the implementation
of Rural Development Programmes in all parts of the country.
