NHPC FINALIZES MAJOR CONTRACT AGREEMENT FOR TEESTA LOW DAM HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT


National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd. (NHPC) has finalised contract agreement for major civil works for the 132 MW Teesta Low Dam Hydroelectric Project in West Bengal. NHPC is executing 132 MW Teesta Low Dam Hydroelectric Project in Darjeeling district, West Bengal as a Central Sector Project at a cost of Rs.768.94 crores with debt-equity ratio of 70:30. The equity support is being given by Government of India in the form of budgetary support and the balance will be arranged by NHPC as a term loan. This is first Hydroelectric Project of NHPC in the state of West Bengal. The Project is scheduled to be commissioned during the 10th plan.

The Project is run of the river scheme and is located on the river Teesta. On completion, the Project will generate 594.07 Million Units energy annually.
