HIGH POWERED COORDINATION CENTRE TO REVIEW LEFT-WING EXTREMISM IN SOME STATES TO MEET IN BHUBANESWAR


The High Powered Coordination Centre under the Chairmanship of the Union Home Secretary to review the Left-Wing Extremism is to meet in Bhubaneswar (Orissa), tomorrow. It will analyse and review the different aspects of the menace. Chief Secretaries and Directors’ General of Police of the Left-Wing Extremism affected States are to participate in the meeting. The Coordination Centre will discuss, inter-alia, spread of left wing extremism to new areas, militarisation of the outfits, their continued attacks on politicians and State apparatus. It will also assess the requirement of the Central Para-military forces in the L.W.E. affected States to combat naxalism. Besides, the Coordination Centre will deliberate on measures and also finetune the strategy to check their activities. Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh are the worst affected States by Left-Wing Extremism.
