FIXATION/REVISION OF PRICES OF BULK DRUG VITAMIN A AND ITS DERIVATIVES

National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has revised the price of bulk drug Vitamin A and its derivatives from Rs. 3178/1000 MIU to Rs. 2452/1000 MIU for Vitamin A Palmetate 1.7/1.0 MIU/gm, from Rs.3136/1000 MIU Rs.2561/1000 MIU for Vitamin A Acetate 1.0 MIU/gm and from Rs.4146/1000 MIU to Rs.3421/1000 MIU for Vitamin A Acetate 0.5 MIU/gm vide notification in the Gazette of India Extraordinary No.SO 1317(E) dated 17.11.2003. These prices have been revised under the provisions of DPCO, 1995 after conducting the cost price study in respect of the drug. M/s Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. is the only known manufacturer of the drug in the country. A copy of the notification issued in this regard is enclosed. The notification is also available on the NPPA website www.nppaindia.nic.in.

The revised notified prices shall become effective within 15 days from the date of notification on the Official Gazette. All the manufacturers of the formulations utilizing the drug in their scheduled formulations are advised to follow the provisions of DPCO, 1995 with regard to pricing of the derivative formulations.
