RAILWAYS REVENUE FREIGHT EXCEEDS
TARGET DURING APRIL-OCTOBER
2003
Indian Railways transported
311.29 Million Tonnes (MTs) of revenue earning freight during
the first seven months of the current financial year ending October
2003, exceeding the target of 303.84 MTs by 7.45 MTs. This was
higher by 20.41 MTs over the corresponding period of the previous
year when 290.88 MTs of revenue freight was carried.
The target of
revenue earning freight for the current financial year 2003-2004
is 540 MTs.
During October,
2003, the Railways carried 44.86 MTs of revenue freight, exceeding
the target of 44.65 MTs by 0.21 MTs. This was higher by 1.85 MTs
as compared to 43.01 MTs during the corresponding month of the
previous year.
