MONGOLIAN DEFENCE MINISTER CALLS ON FERNANDES


The Defence Minister of Mongolia Mr. Jugderdemid Gurragchaa called on Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in New Delhi today. Mr. Gurragchaa was accompanied by a four member delegation comprising of Major General Dash Magsarjav, Chief of the Policy Implementation and Coordination Directorate, Major General Choijamts Ulaankhuu Air and Air Defence Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lt Col Donrov Ganbaatar, Specialist, Department Foreign Relations, Ministry of Defence and Zala Ul, Counsellor, Embassy of Mongolia, New Delhi.

Mr. Gurragchaa had delegation level talks with Mr. Fernandes in which both countries emphasized on Defence Cooperation as part of an effort to promote overall bilateral relations. During the talks both the leaders explored the possibilities of capacity building and training in areas of enhancing english language skills, Information Technology, peace keeping and equipment repair and maintenance.

The Mongolian delegation evinced keen interest in peacekeeping and humanitarian missions.

India and Mongolia have traditionally had good political and cultural relations which have been expanding after the restoration of democracy in Mongolia.

Mr. Gurragchaa who is in India on a eight day visit at the invitation of Mr. Fernandes is slated to visit Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Bharat Electronics Limited, UN Peacekeeping Center, New Delhi, Air Force Training School, Dundigal and Leh before he leaves for Beijing on way back to Mongolia on the 18th of this month.
