WEEK IN FOOD MINISTRY
576 MAJOR
PENALTY CASES DECIDED
The Department of
Food and Public Distribution has cleared 576 major penalty cases
and 1968 minor penalty cases arising out of vigilance complaints
in the Department and Public Sector Undertakings during the last
one year. While observing Vigilance Awareness Week from 3rd
to 8th November this year, the Ministry has launched
a special drive for conclusion of long pending inquiries and disciplinary
proceedings.
Complaints against
All India and Central Services officers were promptly looked into
and in four cases draft charge sheets sent to Department of Personnel
and Training and other ministries. Five cases were referred to
the Central Vigilance Commission for First Stage Advice. The Department
has finalised 64 cases out of 81 complaints involving other functionaries
in the Ministry. The Central Warehousing Corporation under the
Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has
brought out a booklet "Vigilance-An Overview" to mark the observance
of Vigilance Awareness Week, for guidance of its employees.
