NALCO BAGS HIGHEST EXPORT AWARD


National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO), a public sector unit of the Mines Ministry received the highest export award of CAPEXIL for the year 2002-03. This is the 16th time in succession that NALCO has won this prestigious award.

Since inception, NALCO has achieved spectacular success as the leading exporter of alumina and aluminium. During the financial year 2002-03, the company exported a record quantity of 10,37,287 tonnes of alumina against 670,120 tonnes achieved in the previous year. During the year, the company also exported 107,302 tonnes of aluminium metal and achieved a total record export turnover of Rs. 1500.65 crore during 2002-03. During the year 2002-03, the total sales turnover was Rs. 2788.67 crore and the profit after tax was Rs. 520.92 crore.

The company is marketing its products worlwide. With the expansion of alumina and aluminium capacity, NALCO's export of alumina and aluminium will help to increase its foreign exchange earnings and overseas presence.
