C-DOT ENTERS INTO FIRST EVER MoU
WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS
A Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) has been signed between the Department of Telecommunications
(DoT) and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT). The
objective of this MoU is to reiterate DoT’s continued support
to C-DOT by monitoring regular flow of financial grant and bringing
greater accountability in the functioning of the C-DOT by ensuring
periodic appraisals for timely delivery of the projects. The MoU
was signed on behalf of the C-DOT by its Executive Director, Shri
N.K. Mangla. The DoT was represented by the Chairman, Telecom
Commission, Shri Vinod Vaish.
An important feature
of the MoU is the proposal to finalise the Annual Maintenance
Contract (AMC) between C-DOT and the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited
(BSNL), for field support by C-DOT for maintenance of the exchanges
based on its technology that are widely deployed in the BSNL network.
This is the first
time since the inception of C-DOT in 1984 that the Government
advised the organisation to sign a formal MoU, as is done in the
case of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The MoU has been signed
subsequent to the directives and guidelines prescribed by the
Finance Commission for all Government funded scientific societies.
C-DOT is fully funded by the DoT.
