FERNANDES TO VISIT KAZAKHSTAN &
KYRGYZSTAN
The Defence Minister
Shri George Fernandes will leave for Kazakstan and Kyrgyzstan
tomorrow. The four-day official visit includes crossing of the
Kazakstan-Kyrgyzstan border by road. Shri Fernandes is slated
to visit Almaty, Bishkek and Asthana during his two-nation tour.
The visit assumes
significance in view of India’s growing interest in Central Asia.
Shri Fernandes is likely to discuss matters of mutual interest
including defence cooperation and global terrorism.
The Defence Secretary
Shri Ajay Prasad and the Assistant Chief of Integrated Defence
Staff, Air Vice Marshal JS Gujral will accompany the Defence Minister.
The Minister returns home on the 8th of November.
