IMPROVEMENT OF DRAINAGE IN CRITICAL AREAS FOR IMPLEMENTATION IN
THE 10TH PLAN
The Centrally Sponsored
Scheme (CSS) under the improvement of drainage in the country
including Mokama TaL Area in Bihar estimated to cost Rs.54 crore
framed for taking up various works for improvement of drainage
due to floods in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Orissa and
Uttar Pradesh was discussed in the meeting of the Expenditure
Finance Committee (EFC) held on 4th September, 2003.
During this meeting though the implementation of the subject scheme
during 10th Plan was agreed in principle, it was interalia
decided that the memorandum for the scheme may be revised based
on the discussions held in the meeting and the title of scheme
may be suitably modified to reflect the national character of
the scheme. It was also decided that the expenditure towards land
and establishment which is to be borne by the States should be
deleted for the purpose of providing central assistance to the
State Governments under the CSS.
The revised memorandum
incorporating the observations/comments as made in the meeting
of the EFC held on 4th September, 2003 with an estimated
cost of Rs.54.57 crore with a central share of Rs.49.62 crore
was further discussed in the meeting of the EFC held on 23rd
October, 2003. The Statewise central share as proposed under the
scheme is given below:

The EFC in the meeting
held on 23rd October, 2003 recommended the implementation
of the subject scheme with a total estimated cost of Rs.54.57
crore comprising of central share of Rs.49.62 crore and State
share of Rs.4.95 crore.
