EXPORTS BACK ON DOUBLE DIGIT TRACK
GROWTH IN SEPTEMBER
TOUCHES NEARLY 16%

TRADE : APRIL- SEPTEMBER, 2003-04
India’s exports during April-September,
2003-2004 are valued at US $ 27438.95 million which is 9.99% higher
than the level of US $ 24946.03 million during April-September,
2002-2003. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs.127610.18 crores,
during April- September, 2003-2004 which is 4.89% higher than
the value of exports during April- September, 2002-2003.
India’s exports during September,
2003 are valued at US $ 4982.20 million which is 15.93% higher
than the level of US $ 4297.54 million during September, 2002.
In rupee terms, the exports in September, 2003 were Rs. 22841.93
crores, which is 9.73% higher than the value of exports during
September, 2002.
Imports during April-September,
2003-2004 are valued at US $ 34554.76 million representing an
increase of 21.42% over the level of imports valued at US $ 28459.61
million in April- September, 2002-2003.In Rupee terms, the imports
have increased from Rs. 138800.09 crores to Rs. 160778.89 crores
showing a growth of 15.83% during the period.
Oil imports during April-
September, 2003-2004 are valued at US $ 9214.98 million which
is 6.34% higher than oil imports valued at US $ 8665.49 million
in the corresponding period last year. Non-oil imports during
April- September, 2003-2004 are estimated at US $ 25339.78 million
which is 28.02% higher than the level of such imports valued at
US $ 19794.12 million in April- September, 2002-2003.
Imports during September,2003
are valued at US $ 5911.96 million representing an increase of
16.25 % over the level of imports valued at US $ 5085.74 million
in September, 2002. In Rupee terms the imports increased by 10.02%
during September, 2003.
The trade deficit for April-
September, 2003-2004 is estimated at US $ 7115.81 million which
is higher than the deficit at US $ 3513.58 million during April-
September, 2002-2003.
