RSP SILICON STEEL MILL'S MAIDEN ENTRY TO EXPORT MARKET

The silicon steel mill of the Rourkela steel plant serviced in March, 2003 the first ever export order from China for 200 tonnes of high value- added CRNO steel. The material will be exported to China from Vizag Port. RSP is expecting orders to the tune of 10,000 tonnes of CRNO steel in the 2003-04.

The silicon steel mill has improved the quality and packaging of its products as per customers' requirements leading to increased acceptability of its products in the market. Besides it has achieved better technological discipline and improved yield. The mill has produced and despatched around 65,000 tonnes of CRON steel in 2002-03. It is expected that Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) will sign an MOU with the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) to get its complete requirement of M-45 grade CRNO steel from RSP.
