SHRI ARUN SHOURIE RELEASES COMMEMORATIVE POSTAGE STAMP ON KAKAJI MAHARAJ


The Union Minister for Communications, Information Technology and Disinvestment, Shri Arun Shourie released here today a commemorative postage stamp on Kakaji Maharaj. Issued by the Department of Posts (DoP), the stamp is in the denomination of Rs.5/-. Senior officials of the DoP were present on the occasion.

Kakaji Maharaj (1918-1986), affectionately called as P.P. Dadukaka, is revered by his followers as a spiritual master. He was an original thinker, philosopher and organiser par excellence who belonged to the Swaminarayan faith.

Hailing from Karamsad in Gujarat, his education was spread over Nadiad, Nairobi, Colombo and London. Having received enlightenment in 1952, he spent the remaining part of his life in the service of God and Satsangies (devotees).

Kakaji wrote several books and articles on spirituality. He demystified spirituality for his followers. He left an enduring organisation in the form of Yogi Divine Society, which strives to train aspiring spiritual technicians and to awaken the divine consciousness in them. His lasting message was one of Suhrad Bhav – spiritual brotherhood.
