SOLAR POWER PLANT AT NAWAN SHAHAR

PRESIDENT TO DEDICATE TO NATION


The President, Shri A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will dedicate to the Nation a 200 KW grid interactive Solar Photovoltaic Power project at village Khatkar kalan in Punjab. The project has been set up at a cost of Rs.4.85 crore by the Punjab Energy Development Agency. Of this Rs.2.94 crore is borne by Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources and the balance by Government of Punjab.

The SPV modules structures, junction boxes, cables, power conditioning units have been supplied by M/s Tata BP Solar India Ltd., M/s Tata-BP Solar India had commissioned the project in December 2002 and will operate and maintain it for 10 years.

The project comprises 2690 nos. of 75 Wp solar photovoltaic modules erected on 133 arrays. These arrays are connected in parallel and series to give an output of 240 volt DC. The power conditioning unit will automatically wake up in the morning and shut down at night. The system will go in the islanding mode when the grid voltage variation is more than plus 12.5 per cent and minus 20 per cent.
