ALLOY STEEL PLANT EXPORTS HR COILS TO CHINA

The Alloy Steel Plant (ASP), Durgapur of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is fully geared up to export low-nickel stainless steel hot rolled (HR) coils to China, the largest steel producer of the world. It has recently bagged an order for 10,000 tonnes of such coils . Earlier it has sent a consignment of 1920 tonnes stainless steel slabs to China. The new export order would open up more opportunities in the export front.

With the firming up of the international steel market, the company is exploring new markets in China and in other countries. ASP is sending its slab to Salem Steel Plant another SAIL unit in Tamil Nadu for rolling them into HR coils before being sent to China. The plant is planning to enhance it stainless steel production to over 5,000 tonnes in a month in view of the potential export growth and increase in demand of alloy steel in domestic market.
