INDIGENOUS AIR DEFENCE SHIP

The Government has accorded approval for construction of a 37,500 ton Air Defence ship at Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Kochi. The Shipyard would need to enter into contracts with external agencies for undertaking specific design modules, including that for aviation facility complex, system integration etc on a required basis. The concept and structural designs general arrangement drawing and hydrodynamic model test have been completed.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply to Shri Ashok N Mohol and Shri Ramsheth Thakur in Lok Sabha today.
