IBM APPEALS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF CAS

The Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad has appealed to the broadcasters, MSOs and the cable operators to work together and arrive at workable system to make the Conditional Access System (CAS) successful and ensure that it is implemented in four metros by July 14, 2003. He said that the Government has made conscious decision to introduce CAS keeping in view the sole interest of the consumer.

Addressing a meeting of the Task Force constituted for implementation of the CAS, Shri Prasad said that the commitment of the Government to provide affordable system to the consumer is categorical, clear and unambiguous. He said, however, the problems of the stake holders would be properly addressed, but he cautioned that no effort to frustrate the implementation would be tolerated.
