A Joint Negotiating
Group (JNG) has been set up for drafting a Framework Agreement
of India-Thailand Free Trade Area (FTA). The first meeting of
the Joint Negotiating Group was held on 23rd & 24th December,
2002 in Bangkok during which both sides adopted its Terms of
References and the schedule of meetings for achieving the objective
of concluding a Framework Agreement on India-Thailand FTA by
September, 2003. The Second meeting of the JNG is scheduled
to be held on 10-12 March, 2003. This was stated by Shri
Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Commerce & Industry,
in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
