Shri Santosh Gangwar,
Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, informed
the Lok Sabha in a written reply today that the Oil Companies
apply to the District Magistrates for ‘No Objection Certificates’
(NOCs) before starting the construction of retail outlets. The
District Magistrate, in turn, seeks NOCs from various authorities
like Police, Fire Service, Department of Explosives, etc., and
also from the Town and Country Planning Department or the National
Highway Authority of India depending on the location of the
proposed retail outlet before issuing the final NOC to the Oil
Company for construction as per the approved plans and drawings.
The Minister further
said that the District Magistrate can initiate action for cancellation
of the NOC when any violation of the terms and conditions of
the NOC is detected.
