Election Commission
of India in collaboration with International Institute for democracy
and electoral assistance (Sweden), is organising three days’
meet of Electoral Management Bodies in New Delhi from March,
2003. The meet will discuss the issues related with electoral
management, transparency in elections and other important topic
of electoral participation. The theme of the conference is ‘foundations
of Democracy: building electoral participation’.
The meeting will
be attended by the election administrators, electoral experts
and media personalities from more than 30 countries. There will
be 8 sessions to discuss themes such as quantitative vs qualitative
participation in elections, voter registration and barriers
to participation for margninalised groups. Experts will make
focussed presentation on topics.
