India’s exports
during April-January, 2002-2003 are valued at US $ 42165.42
million which is 17.38% higher than the level of US $ 35921.39
million during April-January, 2001-2002. In rupee terms, the
exports were Rs. 204614.08 crores, during April-January, 2002-2003
which is 19.89% higher than the value of exports during April-January,
2001-2002.
Exports during
January, 2003 are valued at US $ 4643.97 million which is 9.19%
higher than the level of US $ 4253.08 million during January,
2002. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs. 22259.84 crores,
which is 8.30% higher than the value of exports during January,
2002.
India’s imports
during April-January, 2002-2003 are valued at US $ 49337.44
million representing an increase of 15.94% over the level of
imports valued at US $ 42554.41 million in April-January, 2001-2002.
In Rupee terms the imports increased by 18.49% during April-
January, 2002-2003.
Oil imports
during April- January, 2002-2003 are valued at US $ 14349.86
million which is 22.02% higher than oil imports valued at US
$ 11760.69 million in the corresponding period of last year.
Non-oil imports during April-January, 2002-2003 are estimated
at US $ 34987.58 million which is 13.62% higher than the level
of such imports valued at US $ 30793.72 million in April-January,
2001-2002.
Imports during
January, 2003 are valued at US $ 5280.46 million registering
an increase of 24.45% over the level of imports valued at US
$ 4242.88 million in January, 2002. In Rupee terms the imports
increased by 23.44% during January, 2002-2003.
The trade
deficit for April- January, 2002-2003 is estimated at US $ 7172.02
million which is higher than the deficit at US $ 6633.02 million
during April- January, 2001-2002.
