UPDATE ON KONKAN RAILWAY TRAIN ACCIDENT


In continuation of the earlier handout titled "Railway Minister in Ratnagiri To Oversee Relief Measures", the latest casualty figures are 22 killed and 25 injured including 15 grievously. The injured have been admitted to Civil Hospital Kankawali and Oras Hospital in Sindhudurg. The affected coaches are being searched further. Boulder which had fallen on the track has since been removed. Crane is working at site. The track is expected to be restored to traffic within 24 hours from now. Ex-gratia payment is being made.

The Minister of Railways, Shri Nitish Kumar and Board Members are at the site to oversee rescue and relief measures. They have already visited the two hospitals.
