HUDCO SANCTIONS RS. 516.35 CRORE FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT
& HOUSING SCHEMES IN NORTH EASTERN STATES

Development Corporation (HUDCO) has sanctioned an amount of Rs.516.35
crore as loan for various urban infrastructure and housing schemes
in North-Eastern States during the year 2002-03. Out of Rs.443.20
crore sanctioned as loan for urban infrastructure schemes, Rs.428.87
crore were released to these States during the year. Share of
North-Eastern States in the total loan amount sanctioned by HUDCO
was about 4% whereas their share in the total release was 9.16%.
In Assam, loan
amounting to Rs.362.70 was sanctioned for schemes relating to
social infrastrusture, transport and power sector. In Meghalaya
Rs.79 crore were sanctioned for construction of roads/bridges
and power sector schemes whereas in Nagaland Rs.1.5 crore were
sanctioned for building roads and bridges. Ministry of Urban Development
released a subsidy of Rs.15.46 lakh for low cost sanitation schemes
in three town of Manipur.
HUDCO also sanctioned
Rs.73.15 crore as loan to various agencies for 25 housing schemes
in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
Out of these, Assam and Nagaland have 7 schemes each, Tripura-6,
Mizoram-3 and Manipur & Arunachal Pradesh-one scheme each.
The total project cost of these schemes is Rs.115.24 crore.
