NAL DEVELOPS AUTOMATIC VISUAL RANGE ASSESSOR

The National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore of CSIR has designed, developed and fabricated prototypes of Automatic Visual Range Assessor (AVRA). The system automatically assesses meteorological optical range and Runway Visual Range, both parameters are of central importance to flying operations. These help pilots in landing and take off, safely.

After extensive trials, the Indian Navy and the Indian Meteorological Department have placed orders with NAL for different variants AVRA.

In its bid to seek industry participation, the NAL has signed an MoU with Globe Agencies, New Delhi, for marketing, installing and maintaining its AVRA and its variants. This is expected to give an impetus to the effort of the NAL to successfully market its AVRA technologies.

The NAL has also successfully developed and installed a 12.88 metre diameter curved sandwich panel radome for the Doppler Weather Radars of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), IMD etc.
