RAILWAY PRODUCTION UNITS EXCEED TARGET IN 2002-2003

All the six Railway Production Units performed well during 2002-2003 with four of them having exceeded the targets and two just meeting it.

The Integral Coach Factory, Chennai exceeded the target of 900 coaches by producing 944 coaches, the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala 941 coaches by producing 944 coaches, Rail Wheel Factory, Bangalore 100716 wheels by producing 101554 wheels, 40754 axles by producing 43322 axles and the Diesel Component Works, Patiala 70 diesel locomotives by re-building 73 diesel locomotives.

The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works and Diesel Locomotives Works just met the target by rolling out 69 electric locomotives and 116 diesel locomotives respectively during the year.

During March, 2003, Diesel Locomotive Works produced 12 diesel locos against the target of 11, Integral Coach Factory 162 coaches against the target of 100, Rail Coach Factory 108 coaches against the target of 105, Diesel Locomotive Works 7 diesel locos against the target of 6, Rail Wheel Factory 8804 wheels against the target of 8803 and 4301 axles against the target of 3639, thus, all of them exceeding the targets. Chittaranjan Locomotive Works just met the target of 9 electric locos for the month.

During the month, a total of 1933.5 eight wheeler wagons were produced as against the target of 1900 wagons, thus, exceeding the target.
