FOODGRAINS RELEASED UNDER SAMPOORNA
GRAMEEN ROZGAR YOJANA (SGRY)
Ministry of Rural
Development has released first instalment of foodgrains under
Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) (1st Stream)
to the State Governments of Tamil Nadu, Chattisgarh, West Bengal,
Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala during 2003-2004. This is 75%
of the total allocation of foodgrains through FCI in the states.

The State Government
is entitled to lift the foodgrains from May 2003 to 31st
March 2004. The transportation cost for lifting the foodgrains
will be borne by the State Government concerned. The payment
of the foodgrains will be made by the Ministry of Rural Development
directly to FCI on lifting of foodgrains.
The release is towards
plan expenditure and will be utilized for approved items of works
subject to the conditions laid down in the Guidelines under the
Programmes of SGRY. After keeping its own share, the share of
each Panchayat Samiti/Intermediate Panchayat will be determined
in accordance with the formula prescribed in the SGRY Guidelines
DRDA/ZP.
The First Stream
of the Programme is being implemented at the District and Intermediate
level Panchayats. 50% of the funds are earmarked out of the total
funds available under the SGRY and distributed between the Zilla
Parishad and the Intermediate level Panchayats or Panchayat Samitis
in the ratio of 40:60.
