MIG-21 CRASHES
RAJYA SABHA
A gradual phasing
out of the MiG-21 fleet is being resorted to keeping in view factors
like technical and calendar life, maintainability and replacement.
However, a specific time frame cannot be fixed.
During this year
till date three MiG-21 aircraft have crashed killing three pilots.
Courts of Inquiry have been set up to ascertain the causes and
are still in progress.
This information
was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written
reply to Shri K Kalavenkata Rao in Rajya Sabha today.
