FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ORISSA
RAJYA SABHA
The Rengali Irrigation
Project is presently under implementation in the State of Orissa
with loan assistance of Yen 7760 million from Government of Japan.
The current phase of the project is scheduled for completion by
31.12.2004. The proposal for second tranche loan amounting to
Yen 6768 million has also been posed to the Japan Bank for International
Cooperation (JBIC) on 23.4.2003 by the Department of Economic
Affairs.
The proposal for
Kanupur Irrigation Project at an estimated cost of Rs. 428.32
crore in Keonjhar district of Orissa is presently under appraisal
by the JBIC.
So far, no such proposal
has been received in the Ministry of Water Resources for assistance
from the Government of Japan for developing Shanti (peace) Park
at Dhauli.
This information
was given by the Union Minister for Water Resources, Shri Arjun
Charan Sethi in a written reply to a question from Ms. Pramila
Bohidar and Shri B. J. Panda in the Rajya Sabha today.
