GOLCONDA EXPRESS ACCIDENT CAUSED BY DELAYED APPLICATION OF BRAKES
The provisional
findings of a statutory inquiry into the derailment of 7201 Gonconda
Express on July 2, 2003 at Warangal Station on Vijaywada-Warangal-Secunderabad
Section of Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway, by
the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Shri R.P. Agrawal, South Central
Circle, have revealed that the accident occurred due to delayed
application of brakes.
The accident
resulted in death of 21 persons, grievous injuries to 16 persons
and simple injuries to eight persons.
The provisional
findings of the Commissioner have been forwarded to the Government
in the Ministry of Railways.
