SALIENT FEATURES OF NEW TIME TABLE
- TRAINS AT A GLANCE 2003
The 27th
publication of the Ministry of Railways all India Time Table "Trains
at a Glance" for the current year, has come into force from
July 1, 2003.
It contains several
new features on the pilgrim centers of India and dedicated sheets
on Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Jan Shatabdi Express trains.
This time also the
"Trains at a Glance" contains a train index which has
not only been arranged number-wise but also name-wise that is
alphabetically. This will serve as a quick reference for persons
knowing only the train name.
To improve readability
of "Trains at a Glance", different types of trains have
been placed in different coloured columns. While the Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Jan
Shatabdi Express trains have been indicated in Pink coloured columns;
the superfast trains have been indicated in yellow coloured columns.
Other ordinary Mail/Express train services in Blue coloured columns,
as done in "Trains at a Glance – 2002." Further, trains
in a particular table have been arranged chronologically, as per
their departure time.
Retaining all the
user-friendly features of Trains at a Glance of previous years,
this issue has been suitably updated for Train index, Station
Index-consisting of names and Table number and Train numbers indicated
alongside, Table Index and Commercial information.
The multi-coloured
All India Railway map has been suitably updated to indicate all
the newly commissioned lines, converted sections and newly constituted
states.
Another unique feature
of the latest time table is schematic representation of routes
as the titles of the tables for better perception.
With the creation
of new Zonal Railways, the enlistment of their names and area
of jurisdiction was imperative. This need has been met by incorporating
the names and area of jurisdiction of newly constituted Zones.
