JURY RECOMMENDATIONS

  1. A panel of translators should be made easily available to jury members for judging books in various regional Indian languages. The list of translators on the panel should be given to the jury at the first meeting itself. Since the prevailing remuneration is unattractive a raise should be considered.
  2. A Screening Panel should eliminate entries that do not qualify for judging as per the rules.
  3. The time span given to the jury for judging should be increased to 45 days.
  4. If books awarded are in languages other than English, a provision should be made for their translation into English or Hindi.
  5. Enhancement of the cash award to Rs.50,000/- for the Book and the Critic should be considered.
