MINISTRY MEETS
Hindi Salahakar Samiti
of the Ministry of Steel met here today under the Chairmanship
of the Minister of Steel Shri Braja Kishore Tripathy to take stock
of progress of the use of official language (Hindi) in the Ministry
and in its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The members urged
all concerned for concerted efforts to further project the use
of Hindi in the Ministry and its PSUs. They appealed to the officials
and employees to develop a liking for Hindi as it is the only
link language to ensure integrity amidst all diversities in the
country. They suggested to implement the official language policy
2003-04 strictly and stressed on spending 50 per cent of the library
grant for purchase of Hindi books, Hindi-English Dictionaries
and reference literature.
The Minister
said that the Steel Ministry is taking all care to implement Hindi
in its departments and in the PSUs. Most of the employees have
been trained under the Hindi teaching scheme. The Ministry has
taken initiatives to popularise the language in the office work
by observing Hindi Day, Week and Fortnight and by arranging competitions
among the employees and awarding prizes. Every year the Ministry
awards three prizes of Rs. 15,000/-, Rs. 10,000/- and Rs. 7,500/-
to encourage the publications of steel sector related technical
Hindi books, he said. The officers of the Ministry inspect the
PSUs regularly and monitor the work done to improve use of Hindi
in office.
The Members of
the Committee including the Members of Parliament, Hindi Experts
and senior officials of the Ministry and PSUs attended the meeting.
