REVIEW OF MPLAD SCHEME
LOK SABHA
A review of the Guidelines
on Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS)
was undertaken and the draft revised guidelines was submitted
to the Committees on MPLADS, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in March
2003 for their consideration. The recommendations of the committees
are awaited.
This information
was given to Lok Sabha today by Shri S.B.Mookherjee, Minister
of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation, in a written
reply to a question by Shrimati Kanti Singh and Shri Ram Prasad
Singh.
The Minister informed
the House that there was a demand for enhancing the allocation
of MPLAD Fund from the present level of Rs. two crore to Rs. Five
crore for each member of both the Houses. But the demand was not
found feasible.
