POTENTIAL OF BIOMASS POWER IN INDIA


RAJYA SABHA

A target of 775 MW has been set for biomass power projects for the Tenth Plan. Biomass gasification, combustion and co-generation technology routes are being deployed for conversion of biomass materials into energy for achieving the above target. A biomass power potential of about 19,500 MW has been estimated.

This information was given by Shri M. Kannappan, Minister of State for Non-conventional Energy Sources, in a written reply to a question by Smt. N.P.Durga in Rajya Sabha today.
