UTILISATION OF SPECIAL RAILWAY SAFETY FUND
The Railways have
planned an expenditure of Rs. 2311 crores from Special Railway
Safety Fund (SRSF) of Rs. 17,000 crores during the current financial
year 2003-2004. During 2002-2003, it incurred Rs. 2486 crores
as against a target of Rs. 2200 crores. In 2001-2002, the first
year of the commencement of SRSF, a sum of Rs. 1434 crores was
spent.
The non-lapsable
SRSF is intended to clear backlog of renewal of arrears of Railway
assets as on April 1, 2001. It is programmed for completion by
2006-2007.
The works under
SRSF are progressing as per target.
The implementation
of SRSF is monitored at Divisional, Zonal and Ministry level regularly.
Besides, inter-Ministerial monitoring of SRSF projects is being
done to improve safety of rail services to the nation.
